Calendar of activities & what's going on
The draught horses of Diepensteyn Stud Farm frequently see action in promotions and show rides for PALM Belgian Craft Brewers.
Competitive horse driving using draught horses always attracts a large crowd.
Events open to the public are frequently organised at the Diepensteyn domain, and visitors are very welcome.
At present the draught horse plays an increasingly greater role in recreation but also in competitive horse driving.
What started as the PCC, Palm Challenge Cup in 1997, has continued to develop with the support of PALM Belgian Craft Brewers into the PHC, Power Horse Competition (www.powerhorsecompetition.nl), until now a mainly Dutch event. The use of draught horses in driving competitions has also developed in Belgium. Specific rules for driving using draught horses have recently been introduced in national horse driving competitions.
Through the association of draught horse drivers (www.trekpaardmenners.be) PALM Belgian Craft Brewers stimulates competitive driving using draught horses by sponsoring competition licences issued by the Flemish League for Horse Sports (VLP) to drivers using draught horses.
Competing at national level (during national driving competitions) makes the move to international level Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI - International Federation of Equestrian Sports) possible.
